The Director of the Agency for Quality in Higher Education, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hristina Serafimovska, carried out a study visit to Croatia’s Agency for Science and Higher Education in Zagreb from 31 August to 5 September 2025.
During the study visit, the two teams focused on building sustainable quality assurance capacity; strengthening implementation of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG); preparing for AQHE’s forthcoming external review by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA); and exploring opportunities for regional cooperation supported by RCC and ERI SEE.
As a concrete next step, Croatia’s Agency for Science and Higher Education, RCC and ERI SEE agreed to prepare a set of recommendations to support the Agency for Quality in Higher Education of North Macedonia in strengthening its quality culture and implementing the ESG.
The visit resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation, formalising the commitment to closer cooperation between the two agencies.
The visit was organised with the support of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and the Education Reform Initiative of South Eastern Europe (ERI SEE). It forms part of the implementation of the Common Regional Market Action Plan for the Western Balkans and was funded by the European Union.
